Can this kid join the Marines with history?
He’s 19 or 20 and has a clean record but when he was 17 he was in a mental hospital for a 72 hour surveillance. He was never involuntarily committed or committed. He was in detox the night before for alcohol and lied and said he tried drugs before. He was given sleep medication antidepressants he since stopped taking. Again he was never committed, labeled insane or mentally defective. This record was sealed and He does have a clean record because he is able to buy guns from gun shops. Now since it’s sealed can he join or does he need a waiver of some kind? Does the recruiter ask about 72 hour observations or what?

He would need a waiver and a lot of luck. “Sealed” means nothing to the government.
Like its already stated, the Marines will look through whatever files they want, that sealed and gone forever stuff only flys in the civilian sector, you ( I mean he) will need to talk to a recruiter and explain the situation, you (he) will need to tell the recruiter all of this and ask if it can be waivered
“sealed” is a load of BS. There is no sealed when it comes to the military wanting to know your history. They’ll find out. I’m sure it will be a speed bump but I can’t tell for sure if it would get you kicked out
He would probably be better off not trying to become a marine. They will break him in recruit training. The mental aspect of Marine Corps Recruit Training is tough. Personally, I saw a recruit in my platoon break down and cry for his mother. He was sent to the mental ward at the naval hospital. This training is not for someone with prior psychological problems.
