Question by : Please help me find a free/low cost alcohol detox center in southeast PA?
is there anyone that can help me find a free or very low cost inpatient alcohol detox clinic in southeast Pennsylvania preferably between Philly and Allentown area for someone who has no insurance and little money?
This is for 2 family members. One is disabled and their health is suffering greatly from this addiction and is in the hospital currently (some issues cause by liver disease), my other family members was recently laid off due to the company they worked for closing and their health is not as bad but their addiction does not help stop the other one because they live together. So when the one gets home from the hospital after going through with drawl (they treat with adavan) they go right back to drinking because the other one did not have treatment. They had agreed to go to detox but while we were working on setting them up at a detox clinic the job loss happened and they cut off their insurance.

If anyone can help me find a clinic it’d be greatly appreciated. I need to find one asap before i lose them. And please only relevant and serious answers because im looking for help on finding a clinic and not to be lectured. I’m almost 26 and they’ve been drinking way longer than that so i’m proud that they finally made the choice and are willing to get help.

JoGusto- they are my parents and it is incredibly draining on me and my siblings. The ill parent beat cancer and leukemia (from result of radiation with cancer) and it kills us watching them suffer and I have days where i feel like im losing my mind. It’s hard to comprehend how one beats cancer but is killing himself by drinking. I know that if he made it through that, he can overcome this too. For myself I’m considering attending some of those AA meetings for family members of alcoholics. Thank you again

Question by Lynne Ayers: 7 day Alcohol Detox – Chlordiazepoxide?
I am looking to start a 7 day detox from alcohol today. Am really nervous as dont like taking medication and worry about feeling ‘out of it’, as I am on my own and raising my young child. Are ther severe side effects when taking? My dosage comes in 5mg tablets and the first day I take 80mg, (20mg 4 times a day) then reduces so on day 7, i will only take one tablet then I’m finished. What happens after is also a concern. I am not a heavy drinker, but wanted to get help with not drinking every evening, hence the prescription. I am tempted to not take and use strong will and jsut not drink. Any advice would be great.

My boyfriend is looking into detox centers in Wisconsin. He has a drinking problem and its now causing bad anxiety. Anyways… we’re wondering how much they generally cost and what the procedure is? I tried calling a few places but haven’t recieved a call back yet. Any information would be helpful, we basically know nothing about this but we know he needs help.

.constant chronic pain, living in poverty, due to SS disability, not enough food, (pretty much NO food) major depression, addiction to meds for panic and pain.I want to go to sleep and NEVER wake up again. Major depression meds not working,gtting to where I cannot even drive or go to mailbox,to see all the medical bills piling up there..leaving phone off hook so I don’t call too many “crisishotlines”.and so collectors do not reach me..trying as best as possible to detox from narcotic painkillers,but the moment I am awake, all the stress, pain, hunger and loneliness set in…cannot reach dr here in small town I live in this weekend..I want to die Lord Jesus..please let me die.this has been going on 5 years..how much is one person supposed to take? Major joint deterioration in jaws and herniated disks started all this in 2004.have tried a detox unit…only made me MORE suicidal..medical doctors cannot treat the pain with the anxiety so high, and psych drs cannot treat the depression and panic with the stress so high..Jesus Christ..I served you all my life..I cannot take this much stress..I simply cannot, Lord..been starting to even turn to alcohol the last two weeks, to try to knock myself out from all the stress..(only adds to the guilt feelings) but kow it will all still be there, only worse, with alcohol..I live in the region where hurricane Ike hit..businesses are closing down here..even one I relied on to try to regain strength fron health products (which I can no longer afford).Christians and doctors only, respond, please..my dr “not available”.how am I going to make it through another weekend in a slum apt?
