If a person has been anywhere above a year or two with an alcohol addiction in New York, then a detox treatment will be insisted upon. You will find a strong emphasis on the alcohol detox treatment on the state health website itself, and a similar recommendation will be made by any substance abuse counselor of health officer that you might visit for consultation on the same. Of course, there are several faith-based programs for alcohol addiction in New York, but even those will make it a point that the person is medically treated when the time comes. So if the person has been with an alcohol addiction for a sizeable amount of time, detox treatment becomes almost mandatory.

This is in Tennessee.
My girlfriend works at a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. they are requiring her to work a 24-hour shift. can they do that?
Also – the facility is requiring the residential techs (my gf’s job) to give out medication too. there are people there detoxing and must take valium and other narcotics. she is not a nurse. and the techs are not trained to understand medication. they have nurses there who are no longer giving the meds, for whatever reason. the nurses leave all the time for hours leaving the techs to make medical descisions.
What can she do? is this illegal?
it isnt the nurses telling the techs to give meds, its the director of the facility.

My younger brother is 20. He has been in rehab twice for drug/alcohol problems. At one point he was taking 30+ Xanax ‘bars’ a day until we got him into a program and detoxed.
Every time he gets out of rehab, he eventually goes out and gets his ‘fix’ again and gets hooked.
He even moved 2,000 miles away for a while to live with my Mother in CA. He did not know a soul there and still managed to find dope.

My husband’s mother recently passed away and my family was not very supportive in attending the funeral or showing support (2 out of 6, my sister and my mother came for the funeral). My father is two months out of detox treatment for alcohol for the 4th time, sober but not happy about, and my sisters have basically allowed him to move in with one of them and support and enable him.
I have told them (my sisters and father) we (my husband and I) are not coming to Thanksgiving because my husband is still grieving and is having a hard time with the loss of his mother.

I voluntarily entered a detox and treatment program for alcohol. I informed my employer the day i entered the facility and told her i would be on restriction for 10 days. She told me to call her back after my restriction was up, which i did and i was then fired for missing too many days. I had never been in trouble for missing work prior to that, or for anything else. I am still in treatment and now, unemployed. Can i get unemployment and is this an unlawful termination? i am residing in Texas
