I am 30 years old and I have always been a drinker although in the last 18 months this had got out of control. I have been on a detox for 2 1/2 weeks now decreasing alcohol until 10 days ago when I completely cut down. The first 3-5 days were horrendous with insomnia, lethargy and anxiety. The anxiety is better now and most other symptoms have improved. My problem is that I feel anxious about feeliing anxious and have found myself having to cancel meetings, appointmnents, abandon shopping trips and/or avoiding public places because I just feel too anxious.
Help?

I am trying to give up alcohol after many years of heavy drinking. I keep experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. Inpatient or rehab is out of the question for a variety of reasons-its simply not possible, I have tried. How can I safely detox myself at home? I know flushing my system with lots of water, meditation, etc. but I need something more. Please do NOT answer this unless you know what you are talking about. Telling me to go to AA and simply not to drink is now what I am after. Only an alcoholic who has been there will understand. Thanks for any input

I have been drinking heavily the past 9 months from ptsd symptoms and back pain with little medical help. I used to be in recovery and am trying to get back to that life but I am experiencing serious withdrawals for the 1st time in my life…shakes, sweats, cold chills, nausea, constant pain in my body and anger. I drank a pint today to take the edge off and am wondering if I will have to start all over or will my body begin to adjust to less and less alcohol until I can totally quit? I am trying to drink nothing by this w/e?
Please don’t answer this to put me down as I am already doing this enough myself. I really need guidance. high ratings for serious replies and thank you all in advance

The classical use of medications for alcoholism is to encourage abstinence. Antabuse (also known as disulfiram), for instance, prevents the elimination of chemicals which cause severe discomfort when alcohol is ingested, effectively preventing the alcoholic from drinking in significant amounts while they take the medicine. Heavy drinking while on antabuse can result in severe illness and death.
Naltrexone has also been used because it helps curb cravings for alcohol while the person is on it. Both of these, however, have been demonstrated to cause a rebound effect when the user stops taking them. These do allow a person to overcome psychological addictions to alcohol, but they do not treat the neurochemical addiction.

Being aware of diseases and illnesses and what causes them is a great way of staying away from them. Today, medical costs are increasing and getting sick is an expensive business. This is one reason why people want to remain healthy. But are people ready to make some compromises to achieve this? Staying healthy involves eating the correct food in the correct amount and at the correct time, and avoiding harmful habits like alcohol and cigarettes. Health needs you to change your lifestyle as much as possible. If you think you are up to it, then rest assured; you can live an illness free and healthy life.
Because of the beverages and food items that you have been eating over the years, your body is susceptible to a number of diseases and illnesses. Even the environment around you can affect the toxin level in your body. Toxin build up happens when the toxic content goes over what the body’s natural detoxification process can handle. This kind of toxic build up causes a lot of problems for the body and this leads to sickness.

span style=”font-size: 12pt; font-family: “Times New Roman”;”>The world is seeing a spurt in alcohol and drug production, consumption and addiction presently even though the governments are trying to stem the rot. United States is also not immune to this situation. However, many drug and alcohol rehab centers have come up in most states, including Utah, to pull out the unfortunate souls who have fallen prey to the menace.
Utah, with a population of about two and a half million people, is threatened with the ever increasing use of cocaine, heroin and marijuana to name a few. The problem is compounded with the over use of alcoholic drinks which amount to addiction. These have enhanced the need for treatment and rehabilitation centers in the state. These centers have come about as places imparting hope for disillusioned and helpless souls.
