How do I deal with seeing someone die?
So, I work in an emergency room and last night i witnessed a death of a guy around my age. I literally saw him die right in front of my eyes, heard his last words (“I can’t breathe”) and saw him take his last breath. I am having a hard time dealing with it and had a mini anxiety attack as i pulled up to the hospital tonight to work. Now you have to understand my title is a patient sitter. I generally just sit with psychiatry patients as well as alcohol or drug detox’s. I was helping a nurse as i often do when I don’t have patients to sit for. So now I don’t know what to do, I am in shambles.. can anyone help me?

gurl i understand you
its an ugly thing to see a death because even if you dont no the guy he still was a human being and had loved ones and had a life
death is a scary thing at times
and it will shock the heart
but theirs nothing you can do about it but breath and try to move your mind and thoughts on
I am a paramedic and have been in EMS for about 10 years. I work 24 hour shifts in a moderate sized city. I see someone die just about every shift. I have seen SIDS deaths, suicides, bad auto accidents, you name it! You just have to experience it over and over then you become numb. You learn how to deal with it and eventually you will be able to scoop someone into the body bag at midnight and then sleep well at as soon as your head hits the pillow.
