How does a 3-5 day alcohol rehab program work?

I have a family member checking into a 3-5 day rehab program to treat alcoholism and a perscription drug addiction. I have never heard of a program this short and I am uncertainof its effectivness. Will it help?

There are all kinds of programs. One this short must be followed up with an intense out-patient rehab. program.
this actually sounds like an unintensive detox program. They usually are 10-14 days. Treating alcoholism and drug addiction is a lifelong journey — I wouldn’t get my hopes up with only 3-5 days.
