My sister lives in Blackwood, New Jersey, and I need to find an alcohol rehab for her. How will I do this?

I live far away from her, and what’s worse is that I did not even know she had a problem with her alcohol consumption until her bestfriend called me on the phone to ask for my help. My sister and I are really close, but she deliberately kept her addiction from me. I have already talked to her and I think she’s now willing to get herself treated. Plese tell me how I can find an alcohol rehab in her vicinity.

You can ask your sister’s best friend to take her to a hospital. That way, she will be getting recommendations and suggestions from the professionals themselves. You can also check out the links that I have included below, or look through the yellow pages. I really hope your sister gets well soon.
Find a MSW (social worker) in her area with addiction experience and let her work out her own treatment plan with professionals.
Do not try to take over her life.

It’s not that close to Blackwood (which is in south Jersey), though being a bit away from home might not be a bad idea. In any case, you can call them for a further referral.
This must be her idea, or it will never work. She will have to struggle with this every day of her life from now on.
Call the Blackwood chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous to find information, but giving her the names and numbers is all you are able to do.
Wherever you live, go also to Alcoholics Anonymous, and attend “Al-Anon” meetings to teach you how to deal with this situation yourself.
