Alcohol abuse or addiction is one of the main problems of most people, and sometimes the seriousness of their addiction can cause the body to weaken or their social life to suffer tremendously. Hence, the need to undergo alcohol detox treatment is vital.

Alcohol detoxification is a form of treatment for individuals with alcohol problems or alcohol dependency. The treatment will make the alcoholic abruptly stop their alcohol intake and to prevent the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal they will have to take a drug as a substitute. In other words, the process is not in any way constituting a complete removal of toxic in the body of an alcoholic.

What are the methods that they employ so that the person can get over his addiction? And why is it so costly?

I just really want to help an old friend of mine. We’ve been friends since childhood and I didn’t anticipate that it would end up like this– that she would someday (which is now) be an alcoholic. We have always looked out for each other, and she has always been kind of like a big sister to me. So now it’s my turn to be like a big sister to her by helping her find an alcohol rehab for herself. How will I do this?

I don’t know where to turn. To shorten a very long story as best as I can my 24 year old brother is a severe alcoholic, he does nothing but drink and if he doesn’t drink he has seizures. These seizures have racked up hospital bills that he will never be able to pay since he can never get a job because his problem is debilitating. I think he started drinking because he has an anxiety problem. He used to be a star baseball player and a “normal” person, but for the last five or so years has basically been ghost who has no real life and no future…it breaks my heart every time I see him. It’s killing him and ruining my family. We do not have a lot of money, but I’m willing to find a way to get it if necessary and the only detox he has ever been to was literally in the ghetto and it was a terrible situation so we don’t want him to go back there. I guess I just don’t know what to do, does anyone know how to get him help or have ever been in a smilar situation who can help?

Please none of the seek professional help etc answers? I am an addict. I continually fall back into addiction time and time again thinking I am yet again in control. This time it was Dextroamphetaime which I was prescribed by my doctor for fatigue and inability to concentrate. These problems were the direct result of depression caused by Xanax addiction (another doctor) to help with alcohol addiction (did detox and therapy for it).

So I know the ropes but am actually becoming addicted and abusing the drugs I am supposed to use to help me. I know its not the drugs or the doctors I cant blame them as I was doing good prior to abusing them.

I’m trying to stop drinking.. I have binged drank several times the past week.

Would it help to drink a little bit (shot or 2) and gradually ease off the alcohol over completely stopping and suffering the detox/withdrawal???

I’m very shakey, tired.. no headache though.
